Job summary

Hitachi Energy in the Netherlands is seeking a Civil Technical Site Advisor to act as the technical authority for civil construction on site, ensuring safe, efficient execution in line with project requirements.

You will work with site management, construction teams, engineering, quality, HSE, and customer reps to guide decisions during execution, installation, and handover, and to review drawings and drive risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in civil construction site activities.
• Higher education qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
• Strong understanding of quality, safety, and construction best practices.
• First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance for civil construction activities throughout project execution.
• Support site management by monitoring progress, quality, documentation, and compliance.
• Advise on civil construction interfaces with installation, commissioning, logistics, and engineering teams.
• Promote safe working practices and support the implementation of HSE requirements and risk mitigation measures.
• Review drawings, technical documentation, and site changes to ensure construction activities follow approved requirements.
• Participate in inspections, quality walks, handovers, and non-conformance management activities.
• Support project planning by providing input on schedules, construction sequencing, risks, and mitigation actions.
• Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement across future HVDC projects.

The opportunity

At Hitachi Energy, you will play a key role in delivering major HVDC projects that support the energy transition. As a Civil Technical Site Advisor, you act as the technical authority for civil construction activities on site, ensuring that work is executed safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements.

You will work closely with site management, construction teams, engineering, quality, HSE, and customer representatives. Your expertise will help guide critical decisions throughout construction, installation, and handover phases. You will provide technical advice, support quality inspections, identify risks, and contribute to continuous improvement across our HVDC projects.

This role is ideal for an experienced civil construction professional who enjoys being close to execution, solving complex site challenges, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in an international environment.

Your background

• You have experience within the high-voltage, power transmission, or energy industry.
• You have at least 5 years of experience in civil construction site activities.
• You hold a higher education qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• You can interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
• You have a strong understanding of quality, safety, and construction best practices.
• You hold First Aid and CPR certification or are willing to obtain it.
