Job summary

Primis is seeking a visionary Chief Data Officer to steer our data strategy for a growing data, analytics and AI consultancy. You will shape governance, monetisation and usage to drive client and internal decision-making.

You will lead end-to-end data initiatives, partner with the executive team, and build a high-performing data function focused on quality, compliance and scalable platforms across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience as Chief Data Officer or senior data leader in a data/analytics/AI consultancy or technology environment.
• Enterprise-scale data strategy and governance experience.
• Experience building and scaling data teams.
• Strong commercial acumen and client-facing experience.
• Deep knowledge of data privacy and GDPR.
• Familiarity with cloud data ecosystems and AI/ML adoption.
• Excellent executive and stakeholder management skills.

Job description

• Lead the data strategy for a growing data, analytics and AI consultancy, shaping how data is governed, monetised and used to drive client and internal decision-making.
• Own the end-to-end data agenda, from data architecture and governance through to advanced analytics and AI enablement.
• Act as a senior voice on data strategy in front of clients, supporting business development and thought leadership alongside delivery teams.
• Build and lead a high-performing data function, setting standards for data quality, governance and compliance across the organisation.
• Partner with the executive team to align data strategy with wider commercial and growth objectives.
• Drive the adoption of modern data platforms, tools and AI/ML capabilities across the business.
• Establish data governance frameworks that satisfy regulatory requirements, including GDPR and other relevant data protection standards.
• Represent the organisation externally, contributing to its reputation as a specialist in data, analytics and AI.

Skills Needed:

• Proven track record operating at Chief Data Officer or equivalent senior data leadership level, ideally within a data/analytics/AI consultancy or technology environment.
• Strong background in data strategy, data governance and data architecture at an enterprise scale.
• Experience building and scaling data teams and functions.
• Commercial acumen, with experience supporting client-facing or business development activity.
• Deep understanding of data privacy and regulatory frameworks (e.g. GDPR).
• Familiarity with modern data platforms, cloud data ecosystems and AI/ML adoption.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, comfortable operating at board and executive level.
