Job summary

Generator Amsterdam is seeking an exceptional Chef de Partie to join our Kitchen team in Amsterdam. If you are motivated, organized and a people person, this is your chance to contribute to a fast-moving, global hospitality brand and help deliver unforgettable guest experiences.

You will assist the Head Chef, cook to a high standard, train junior staff, manage portions and waste, and stay on top of food trends while ensuring food hygiene and safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• Experience working within the food industry in a similar role.
• Genuine interest and enthusiasm for food and service.
• Passion for trending food concepts locally and elsewhere.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to the Head Chef/Sous Chef to ensure the smooth running of foodservice operations.
• Create high quality food to meet guest expectations and to maintain company standards.
• Anticipate guests’ needs and provide service to the level they require.
• Prepare, cook and present dishes within your speciality.
• Manage and train any commis working with you.
• Monitor portion and waste control to maintain profit margins.
• Give input to the Head Chef on menu creativity with innovation and local inspirations.
• Keep up to date with local food trends.
• Carry out preparatory tasks ensuring good quality produce at all times.
• Ensure food hygiene and health and safety compliance.

About Generator Amsterdam

Generator Amsterdam is located in the up-and-coming eastern side of the city overlooking Oosterpark. This former zoological university building can accommodate 564 guests in 168 twin and quadruple rooms with incredible views on the surrounding and en-suite bathrooms. There is also one luxury apartment for six people with views of the park and a self-catered kitchen. It has flexible and spacious social areas, filled with creative design touches like glass-fronted elevators, a raised café and an outdoor terrace. We’ve turned the former lecture hall into an impressive chill-out lounge and bar, while the old library is now a relaxation and private events room. The basement and café are now dining destinations and the original boiler room has become a secret late-night bar.

What You’ll Do

• Provide assistance to the Head Chef/Sous Chef to help ensure the smooth running of foodservice operations
• Create high quality food to meet guest expectations and to maintain company standards
• Anticipate guests’ needs and provide service to the level they require
• Prepare, cook and present dishes within your speciality
• Manage and train any commis working with you
• Monitor portion and waste control to maintain profit margins
• Give input to the Head Chef on menu creativity with the courage to try something different and deliver innovative, locally inspired food & beverage offerings appropriate to the guest community
• Keep up to date with local food trends
• Carry out all preparatory tasks ensuring good quality produce at all times
• Constantly improve product knowledge to maximize revenue and service provided
• Know all statutory legislation and ensure H&S and Fire Safety compliance
• Ensuring you and your team have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
