Job summary

Generator Amsterdam in Amsterdam is seeking an exceptional Chef de Partie to join our Kitchen team. You will assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef to ensure smooth foodservice operations while creating high quality dishes that meet guest expectations and brand standards.

You’ll train and manage junior staff, monitor portions, help develop new menu ideas, stay current with local trends and uphold hygiene and safety at all times.

Qualifications

• Experience in the food industry in a similar role.
• Passion for food and service, with knowledge of current trends.
• Ability to train and supervise junior kitchen staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Chef/Sous Chef to ensure smooth foodservice operations.

Generator Amsterdam is located in the up-and-coming eastern side of the city overlooking Oosterpark. This former zoological university building can accommodate 564 guests in 168 twin and quadruple rooms with incredible views on the surrounding and en-suite bathrooms. There is also one luxury apartment for six people with views of the park and a self-catered kitchen. It has flexible and spacious social areas, filled with creative design touches like glass-fronted elevators, a raised café and an outdoor terrace. We’ve turned the former lecture hall into an impressive chill-out lounge and bar, while the old library is now a relaxation and private events room. The basement and café are now dining destinations and the original boiler room has become a secret late-night bar.

NUTS AND BOLTS OF THE JOB

• To provide assistance to the Head Chef/Sous Chef to help ensure the smooth running of foodservice operations
• To create high quality food to meet guest expectations and to maintain company standards
• To anticipate guests’ needs and provide service to the level they require
• Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes within your speciality
• Managing and training any commis working with you
• Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins
• Give input to the Head Chef on menu creativity with the courage to try something different and deliver innovative, locally inspired food & beverage offerings appropriate to the guest community
• Keep up to date with local food trends
• Carry out all preparatory tasks ensuring good quality produce at all times
• To constantly improve product knowledge to maximize revenue and service providedKnow all statutory legislation and ensure H&S and Fire Safety compliance
• Ensuring you and your team have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
