As a Business Development Representative (BDR), you will be responsible for generating new business opportunities and building a strong outbound sales pipeline.
You will proactively identify and approach HR leaders, People leaders and other key decision-makers within a defined list of target accounts. Through research, cold calling, email, LinkedIn and other outreach channels, you will engage prospects, understand their business challenges and create opportunities for the sales team.
The ideal candidate is proactive, commercially minded, curious and motivated to develop a career in B2B sales.
This is not simply an inbound lead-follow-up role. CLIENT is looking for someone who enjoys proactively opening doors, experimenting with different outreach strategies and turning prospects into meaningful commercial conversations.
You will work closely with Business Development Representatives, Consultants, Account Executives, Revenue Operations and Marketing specialists.
The position also offers a structured development path, with coaching, training and the opportunity to progress into an Account Executive role within approximately two years, depending on performance and readiness.
Key Responsibilities
1. Outbound Business Development
- Independently build and develop an outbound sales pipeline within a clearly defined market or segment.
- Research target organisations, identify relevant stakeholders and understand their business priorities.
- Proactively approach prospects through phone calls, emails, LinkedIn, video outreach, events and other channels.
- Identify and create new commercial opportunities with HR leaders, People leaders, directors and business stakeholders.
2. Prospect Engagement & Qualification
- Conduct meaningful conversations with potential clients to understand their HR challenges and organisational needs.
- Identify business opportunities based on relevance, urgency, potential impact and next steps.
- Communicate CLIENT's value proposition in a clear and compelling way.
- Convert initial conversations into qualified meetings, introductory calls and product demonstrations.
- Develop, test and improve different messaging approaches and outreach strategies.
- Collaborate closely with Account Executives, Consultants, other BDRs, RevOps and Marketing.
- Maintain accurate records of activities, prospect interactions and opportunities in the CRM.
- Share market insights, prospect feedback and relevant developments with the wider sales team.
- Consistently manage your pipeline, activities and commercial priorities.
- Actively participate in coaching sessions, call reviews and sales training.
- Learn from feedback, experiment with different sales approaches and continuously improve performance.
- Develop a strong understanding of HR trends, organisational development and CLIENT's solutions.
- Work towards progressing into an Account Executive position through a structured development programme.
You should bring:
- At least one year of experience in sales, business development, recruitment, consultancy or a similar commercial role.
- A strong interest in outbound sales and proactively generating new business opportunities.
- Confidence in making cold calls and approaching new contacts.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage different stakeholders.
- Curiosity about organisations, people, HR challenges and business development.
- Persistence and resilience, with the ability to learn from rejection.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own pipeline and priorities.
- An interest in AI tools and using technology to improve sales productivity while maintaining a personal approach.
- Openness to direct feedback, coaching and continuous development.
- Fluency in Dutch; good command of English is an advantage.
A completed degree is not essential. CLIENT places greater emphasis on ownership, learning ability, commercial discipline and motivation.
