The Branch Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and management of sales, margin, and overall operating expenses for the location. This position is responsible for driving operational performance, profitability, customer and employee satisfaction, and team development by directing, coordinating, and monitoring branch operations and personnel development activities.
The Branch Manager works collaboratively with other sales and organizational leaders to support overall sales initiatives, customer relationships, and the continued growth and success of the location.
Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage Counter Sales and Showroom operations, including hiring, scheduling, development, and discipline.
- Plan and control expenses of branch location with profit and loss responsibility.
- Maintain inventories at adequate levels, promote sales, and maintain the appearance of the branch
- Provide effective leadership, communication, coaching, and performance feedback to employees and department leaders.
- Provide outstanding customer service and address and resolve customer complaints in a timely manner.
- Assist management in developing and communicating overall sales direction and market strategy.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors.
- Identify new product and business opportunities based on customer and market needs.
- Implement business strategies that support profitable customer relationships and identify opportunities for continued branch growth.
- Oversee the daily maintenance, organization, and operational needs of the location.
- Ensure work if performance in accordance with established safety standards, and policy and procedures, with particular attention to safe warehouse and material-handling practices.
- Participate in leadership meetings and communicate employee concerns, operational needs, policies, and other relevant information to the management team.
- Conduct regular employee and team meetings and promote communication and collaboration across Counter Sales, Showroom, and Warehouse operations.
- Represent the organization professionally to customers, employees, vendors and company leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Work Experience and Competencies:
- Demonstrated the ability to lead, develop, and hold employees accountable across multiple functional areas.
- Strong knowledge of branch and counter sales operations.
- Ability to effectively oversee sales and operations and understand how each function contributes to the overall customer experience and branch performance.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge plumbing products and applications.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build collaborative working relationships with employees, customers, vendors, and other sales and operational leaders.
- Working knowledge of Eclipse ERP or demonstrated ability to effectively utilize ERP systems in daily business operations.
- Professional demeanor and strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple departments in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand/work for the duration of work hours and lift, carry, or maneuver materials or equipment up to 50 lbs.
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Minimum of three years of supervisory or leadership experience; experience overseeing multiple operational functional preferred.
Physical Capabilities:
This position requires an employee to be able to stand between four to six hours per eight to ten hour day. It also requires an employee to be able to perform a combination of sitting, walking, and driving for approximately one to four hours based on job responsibilities. The employee must possess the physical ability to continuously, frequently, or occasionally use both upper extremities for repetitive tasks, including simple grasping, pushing and pulling with either hand. Up to 33% of the time, this role requires the ability to perform a variety of physical movements, including bending at the waist, squatting, climbing, reaching above shoulder level, kneeling, crawling, and operating foot controls depending on occupational demands. Additionally, the employee must be capable of lifting and carrying materials more than 100lbs.
