Job summary

The Eendracht Sailing Ship Foundation is seeking a permanent bosun to join our crew aboard the Eendracht. You’ll manage deck operations, assist with sail handling, and help moor and unmoor safely, while mentoring trainee quartermasters and contributing to sail tactics.

We offer a varied part-time role (6 months on, 6 months off) within a team of dedicated volunteers, travel to diverse destinations, and meaningful social impact through offshore sailing.

Qualifications

• Experience with offshore sailing and sea-going routines.
• Ability to plan and perform technical maintenance on deck.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork mindset.
• Organizational talent and comfort working with volunteers.
• Dutch and English language proficiency; valid medical certificate.

Responsibilities

• Lead the crew during sail operations and harbor maneuvers.
• Collaborate with the captain on sail strategy and trim.
• Train and mentor trainee quartermasters.
• Plan and perform maintenance on hull, rigging, accommodation and sails.
• Conduct safety inspections as part of the maintenance plan.
