Job summary

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is seeking a Scientific Programmer to contribute to the development and maintenance of the FUMA web platform. You will work on integrating statistical pipelines, large-scale biological data, and robust backend and frontend components using Laravel, PHP, Python and R.

The role involves maintaining production infrastructure, improving performance, and collaborating with computational biologists and statisticians to translate new methods into usable software.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or Bioinformatics, or equivalent.
• ,
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or R.
• Experience with Git version control.
• Experience with Linux environments and command-line tools.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Good command of English.
• Enjoy translating new scientific methods into practical, robust software.
• Take ownership of long-term software projects and continuously seek improvements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement existing and new analysis modules and visualizations within FUMA, including integration of statistical pipelines.
