Job summary

Virtuagym is growing its Development team, seeking a Software Engineer for the Blue Domain (billing & payments). You will build and maintain features across the billing platform, refining requirements and contributing to design, implementation, and testing.

You should be comfortable working independently and with a team, and you’ll develop unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests. The role offers a remote-friendly setup, an Amsterdam office, and collaboration across a high‑performing team focused

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years of professional software development experience.
• Solid, hands-on production experience with PHP – a hard requirement; Python is a strong plus.
• A love for delivering high‑quality, well‑tested software.
• A track record of improvements in the Development Lifecycle.
• Strong communication and collaboration with Product Management to create actionable product specs.
• Team player who participates in daily rituals and shares knowledge.
• Experience with an RDBMS and ER diagrams.
• Experience with Git workflows and version control.
• Strong English communication skills; English is the company language.
• Knowledge of agile philosophy and implementing Scrum and DevOps lifecycles.

Responsibilities

• Design simple, scalable solutions that are more than just technically correct.
• Build on existing architecture and elevate with best practices.
• Ship features end-to-end from design through to customer use.
• Monitor production systems to catch issues early.
• Write docs and diagrams for teammates to reference later.

• Contribute to Sprint and Product Backlog planning.
• Pair or mob with teammates to leverage collective input.
