Catawiki, based in Amsterdam, is hiring a Backend Engineer to strengthen our engineering team. You will work on scalable microservices across Demand, Supply, or Fulfilment and contribute to search, discovery, bidding, logistics, payments, and support.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience with object‑oriented programming.
• 3+ years of experience working with customer‑facing products in e‑commerce, fintech, or SaaS.
• Experience designing, implementing, and deploying backend services with high availability and low latency.
• Good understanding of API design, SQL, and relational databases.
• Excellent English communication and collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to own and maintain services throughout their lifecycle.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and grow professionally.

Responsibilities

• Build end‑to‑end scalable microservices and features.
• Own the quality, resilience, and maintainability of your team’s services.
• Collaborate with product designers, product owners, and frontend/backend/mobile engineers.
• Improve engineering processes and document best practices.
• Fix bugs and refactor code to improve reliability and performance.
• Learn and experiment with new technologies and participate in Technical Week.
