Job summary

Albert Heijn is hiring a backend developer to help reinvent the Sales Accounting services with Kotlin/Java microservices on Azure. You will work in the Sales Accounting DevOps team, doing roughly 70% new development and 30% maintaining data flows, while ensuring security and quality.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building and operating scalable backend systems with Kotlin or Java/Spring Boot in a microservices environment.
• Experience with event-driven systems (e.g. Kafka) and designing scalable backend services.
• Experience with cloud-native environments, Kubernetes, CI/CD tooling and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
• Solid understanding of relational databases and designing backend systems with a strong focus on scalability, performance and data integrity.
• Experience taking technical ownership, driving solution design and architecture decisions within a team, while mentoring other developers.
• Has good interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders,
• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate functional requirements into technical solutions together with Product Owners and stakeholders
• Based in the Netherlands and able to work hybrid from Zaandam.
• Willing to participate in an on-call/standby rotation as part of the team’s operational responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Write code, automate tests, deploy and maintain backend services.
• Collaborate with engineers and product owner to design and implement scalable microservices on Azure.
• Drive technical quality and help the team maintain pace in Scrum cadence.
• Mentor peers and take ownership of architectural decisions within the team.
• Ensure security considerations are integrated and uphold data integrity across services.
• Be available for on-call rotation as part of operational responsibilities.
