Job summary

Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam biedt een leerzame stage in een bruisende keuken waar je onder ervaren chefs praktijkervaring opdoet in verschillende keukenoperaties en culinaire vaardigheden ontwikkelt.

De positie omvat werken in ontbijt, events en Carstens Steakhouse, met begeleiding, hygiëne en HACCP-standaarden. Geschikt voor een 18-jarige leerling die een BBL-traject volgt in Nederland.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a BBL Chef programme or planning to start one.
• Passie voor eten, koken en gastvrijheid.
• Sterke bereidheid om te leren en nieuwe vaardigheden te ontwikkelen.
• Positieve houding en proactieve werkhouding.
• In teamverband kunnen werken.

Responsibilities

• Assisteren bij de bereiding en presentatie van gerechten volgens recepten en kwaliteitsnormen.
• Leren en toepassen van culinaire technieken onder begeleiding van ervaren koks.
• Ondersteunen van het keukenteam met mise en place en dagelijkse voorbereidingswerkzaamheden.
• Zorgen voor netheid en organisatie van werkstations en keukenapparatuur.
• Volgen van voedselveiligheid, hygiëne en HACCP-procedures.
• Assisteren bij ontvangst, opslag en rotatie van keukenvoorraad.
• Ondersteunen van ontbijt-, lunch-, diner-, banqueting- en evenementwerkzaamheden.
• Bijdragen aan een positieve en samenwerkende teamomgeving.
• Voortdurend ontwikkelen van culinaire kennis en praktische kookvaardigheden.

At Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam, you will gain hands‑on experience across different kitchen operations while developing your culinary skills alongside a talented team. From breakfast and events to Carstens Steakhouse, every day offers a new opportunity to learn and grow. Located opposite Amsterdam Central Station, Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam is home to Carstens Steakhouse, a destination restaurant celebrating premium steaks, fresh seafood, and locally sourced ingredients prepared over a Josper grill.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and presentation of dishes according to recipes and quality standards
• Learn and apply culinary techniques under the guidance of experienced chefs
• Support the kitchen team with mise en place and daily preparation tasks
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations and kitchen equipment
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and HACCP procedures at all times
• Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating kitchen stock correctly
• Support breakfast, lunch, dinner, banqueting, and event operations as required
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment
• Continuously develop culinary knowledge and practical cooking skills

Essential Requirements

• Enrolled in a BBL Chef programme or planning to start one
• Passion for food, cooking, and hospitality
• Strong willingness to learn and develop new skills
• Positive attitude and a proactive approach to work
• Ability to work well within a team environment
• Available to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
• Eligible to work and complete a BBL apprenticeship in the Netherlands

Preferred Requirements

• Previous kitchen experience through school, work, or personal projects
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen procedures
• Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards
• Good communication skills in English
• Dutch or any additional language is an advantage

This position is classified under the Dutch Hospitality Collective Labour Agreement (Horeca CAO, BBL Scale 32) with a salary of €1,351.10 gross per month based on full-time employment for an 18‑year‑old apprentice.
