Job summary

Mistral is seeking a Technical Lead in Applied AI to steer technical strategy and delivery of enterprise AI solutions. You will lead Applied AI Engineers, mentor teams, and drive end-to-end deployments from pre-sales to post-implementation.

You’ll bridge advanced AI research with real-world enterprise needs, ensuring robust, scalable solutions aligned with Mistral’s roadmap. You will collaborate with research, product, and engineering teams while shaping open-source initiatives and AI tooling.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English.
• PhD or Master’s in AI, ML, CS or related field.
• 7/8+ years of AI/ML experience including 2+ years in a technical leadership role.
• Proven track record leading teams to deliver complex AI projects from prototyping to production.
• Deep expertise in fine-tuning LLMs, advanced RAG, agentic systems, and NLP deployment at scale.
• Proficient in Python, PyTorch, LangChain, and Hugging Face; cloud and MLOps experience is a plus.
• Strong software engineering skills including API design and backend/system architecture.
• Excellent technical communication to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Deliver as an IC the critical lines of code of complex projects.
• Lead technical teams of Applied AI Engineers with mentorship and best practices.
• Lead technical discussions during pre-sales and translate requirements into solutions.
• Design and oversee implementation of complex AI systems including fine-tuning, RAG, and LLM apps.
• Drive innovation by evaluating new tools/methodologies for AI deployment.
• Collaborate with product managers, researchers, and engineers to integrate customer feedback.
