Job summary

Hug Engineering AG in Enschede, Netherlands, is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to lead the design and integration of skid-mounted exhaust aftertreatment systems. You will own technical scope, coordinate with customers and suppliers, and develop CAD-based layouts and technical documentation.

Requirements include a mechanical engineering degree and at least 3 years of experience in skid-mounted systems, plus proficiency in 3D CAD and exposure to PDM/PLM.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in mechanical engineering or comparable is required.
• At least 3 years of professional experience designing skid-mounted systems.
• Experience with 3D CAD software and structured BOM management is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering activities with a focus on project management, aligning internal teams, customers and suppliers.
• Own design and integration of skid-mounted exhaust aftertreatment systems, including layout and interface management.
• Develop project-specific CAD layouts for the aftertreatment system.
• Create project-specific technical documentation (SDS, P&ID, electrical schematics, network diagrams).
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations (UL, ASME, AWS, DIN, EN, ISO).

Your key responsibilities:

• Lead engineering activities with strong focus on project management: Define technical scope, manage project objectives and budget, align internal teams, customers and suppliers
• Take full technical ownership for design and integration of skid-mounted exhaust aftertreatment systems, including skid design, structural steelwork, equipment layout, piping integration, interface management, and cross-functional engineering coordination
• Development of project-specific layouts of the aftertreatment system using CAD software
• Create project-specific technical documentation such as technical specifications, Piping and Instrumentation Diagram, electrical schematics and network diagrams
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations (UL, ASME, AWS, DIN, EN, ISO, …)

Your profile:

• Successfully completed engineering degree in mechanical engineering or comparable
• At least 3 years of professional experience in designing skid-mounted systems
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software and experience with PDM/PLM systems and structured BOM management are an advantage
• Knowledge of exhaust gas aftertreatment and combustion engines is an advantage
• High level of autonomy and reliability
• Strong analytical thinking, teamwork and effective communication skills
• Hands-on mentality combined with a structured and methodical approach to work
• Willingness to travel to customers, suppliers and the headquarters in Switzerland approximately once per month
• Fluent in English and Dutch is a strong advantage
