Job summary

Suitsupply is seeking a Principal Engineer, the most senior hands-on engineer in the company, to design, build, and ship alongside our teams. You will establish engineering standards for entire domains and ensure their adoption in code, pipelines, and practice.

You will split your time roughly 50/50 between accelerating internal projects and driving cross-cutting standards across teams, embedding in teams to raise the bar with senior technical leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering with staff- or principal-level scope.
• Experience across at least three domains, with ecosystem-wide impact.
• Hands-on across the stack and shipping code weekly.
• Authority to set and enforce domain standards without direct reports.

Responsibilities

• Set cross-cutting standards backlog for domains: observability, monitoring, alerting, release and deployment processes, and shared packages.
• Design, prototype and build on hard cross-team problems—migrations, integrations, foundations.
• Jump-start delivery by leading technical discovery and shaping solutions with teams.
• Embed standards inside teams by pairing with Tech Leads and Engineering Managers.
• Enforce standards through tooling, PR guardrails and automated checks.
• Drive agentic AI-native development as the default working mode with Engineering Managers.
• Cover gaps by stepping into teams without a Tech Lead to maintain delivery.
• Partner with Engineering Leadership on domain architecture and ensure standard adoption.
