APM Terminals Maasvlakte II in Rotterdam is seeking an experienced accounting professional to help build a best-in-class finance function for a rapidly scaling business.
You will own statutory and financial reporting, lead month-end close, coordinate audits, ensure tax compliance, and partner with JV and governance topics while developing a small accounting team in an international, Lean-driven environment.
APM Terminals Maasvlakte II (MVII) is one of the world’s most advanced and highly automated container terminals, strategically located in the Port of Rotterdam. As part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group and the global APM Terminals network, we actively contribute to enabling global trade and fostering sustainable economic growth.
At MVII, Finance plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of one of the world’s most advanced automated terminals. We are in a phase of significant growth and transformation, including a EUR 1bn expansion, where Finance is at the centre of strategic decision-making.
This is not a “business-as-usual” accounting role. We are looking for a high-potential accounting professional ready to step up, take ownership, and help build a best-in-class finance function in a business that is scaling rapidly.
What sets MVII apart is our culture of innovation, safety and operational excellence. The Lean methodology is deeply embedded in our way of working – from continuous process improvement to cross-functional teamwork at ground level. At MVII, you’ll be part of a forward-thinking, data-driven environment built on continuous improvement. Join us and contribute to a terminal that sets the global benchmark.
With over 500 employees and strong global backing, MVII offers the opportunity to grow with the business and make real impact from day one.
As Terminal Accounting Manager, you will combine technical accounting excellence with business partnering and ownership.
You will:
We are deliberately targeting high-potential professionals (5–8 years experience) who are ready for a next step.
You likely bring:
Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset—curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.
Leadership expectation: We are looking for people who consistently put customers first, lead by example with respect for people, deliver results with integrity, and drive continuous improvement by solving problems at the root, developing people, and raising standards every day.
A strong accounting foundation, ideally gained in Big 4, or in industry (e.g. logistics, energy, terminals, tank storage like Vopak)
Experience with statutory reporting, audits, and compliance
The ambition to move beyond execution into ownership and impact
The ability to operate in a dynamic, evolving environment
