Van Oord is seeking a competent 2nd Officer to manage navigational watchkeeping and deck operations aboard our offshore fleet. You will work with a tight-knit international crew, applying safety standards and navigational discipline to support wind, cable laying and subsea projects worldwide.

You will develop leadership skills, contribute to voyage planning, watchkeeping and equipment integration while mentoring junior deck crew, with opportunities for career progression in a dynamic offshore

Qualifications

• Hold a Certificate of Competency as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OICNW) or higher.
• Minimum 2 years' experience as 2nd Officer on offshore vessels.
• Valid STCW certification for 2nd Officer.
• Experience with voyage planning and navigational watchkeeping.
• Proficient in English, both written and spoken.

Responsabilités

THE POSITION

As a 2nd Officer you manage navigational and deck activities during your watch. You are a member of the crew and ensure safe and efficient vessel handling in line with the rules and regulations and our high safety standards. Working closely with your team, you will gain valuable experience on internationally operating vessels while further developing your professional and leadership skills.

YOUR IMPACT

As a 2nd Officer, you contribute to safe and efficient offshore operations by maintaining situational awareness and resolving routine operational issues during your watch. Through accurate record keeping, inspections and clear communication, according the rules and regulations. Your responsibilities include

• Managing navigational watchkeeping duties and bridge administration;
• Focus on proactive risk identification and route monitoring;
• Integration of mission equipment operations;
• Oversee operational activities ensuring tasks are carried out safely and according to plan;
• Support the development of less experienced deck crew members.

• Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
