Job summary

Van Oord is seeking a motivated 3rd Officer to start a maritime career and contribute to safe navigation and vessel operations. You will support watchkeeping, bridge administration, and safety procedures while developing your nautical knowledge and dredging experience.

You will hold an Officer of the Watch (Unlimited), STCW and seagoing documents, a seafarer's medical certificate, and strong English communication skills. A proactive safety mindset is essential.

THE POSITION

As a 3rd Officer, you are at the start of your career at sea. You support the safe navigation operational performance of the vessel during your watch. You act as a member of the crew helping to ensure that navigational, safety and operational activities are carried out in line with rules and regulations and Van Oord's high safety standards. Working closely with your team, you will gain valuable experience on internationally operating vessels while further developing your professional and leadership skills.

YOUR IMPACT

As a 3rd Officer, you contribute to safe and efficient operations by supporting the team. Through active participation in daily operations, you help maintain rules, regulations, and operations. Your responsibilities include

• Assisting with navigational watchkeeping duties and bridge administration;
• Supporting routine dredging and deck operations in accordance with established procedures;
• Maintaining, inspecting and testing safety and lifesaving equipment;
• Maintaining operational, safety and statutory records;
• Participating in emergency response drills and promoting a safe onboard working environment.
