Job summary

IEM Dynamic Sdn. Bhd. in Bintulu, Sarawak, seeks a qualified Welding Inspector for a refinery project on a contract basis. You will perform visual inspections of welding works, verify materials, WPS compliance and QA/QC records, and coordinate NDT activities.

The candidate must hold CSWIP 3.1 or AWS-CWI, have at least 3 years of relevant experience in steel fabrication or construction, and communicate effectively with clients and site personnel.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as Welding Inspector.
• Experience in oil & gas, refinery, fabrication or construction projects.
• Able to read and understand structural/fabrication drawings.
• Knowledge of welding codes and project specifications.
• Good communication with clients, subcontractors and site personnel.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspection of welding works for steel supports and structural steel components.
• Inspect materials and welded joints according to approved drawings, WPS and project specifications.
• Monitor welding activities and ensure welding procedures are properly followed.
• Check welding consumables and welder qualifications before and during welding activities.
• Coordinate and witness required NDT activities such as MT/PT.
• Identify welding defects and ensure corrective actions are carried out.
• Conduct inspection and prepare punch lists for completed steel support works.
• Liaise with client/consultant inspectors during inspection activities.
• Prepare and maintain welding inspection reports, checklists and QA/QC records.
• Ensure welding and fabrication works comply with project quality and safety requirements.

• Possess CSWIP 3.1, AWS-CWI or equivalent certification.
• Familiar with welding inspection, WPS, welding consumables and NDT requirements.
• Able to read and understand structural/fabrication drawings.
• Knowledge of applicable welding codes and project specifications.
• Good communication skills and able to liaise with clients, subcontractors and site personnel.
