Job summary

YYM Engineering Sdn Bhd in Johor seeks a Quality Inspector to support fabrication and welding operations. You will inspect incoming materials, perform in-process and final inspections, read engineering drawings, and verify that dimensions meet specifications.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with 1–2 years of steel fabrication experience. CSWIP 3.1 and ISO standard knowledge are preferred; fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Welding, or a related field.
• At least 1–2 years of experience in steel fabrication, welding, or manufacturing is preferred.
• Fresh graduates with relevant technical knowledge are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Basic or higher knowledge of fabrication and welding processes.
• Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
• Knowledge of Standards - ISO 3834, ISO 14731 or EN 1090 is preferred.
• CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification is preferred. Candidates currently pursuing or willing to obtain CSWIP certification will have an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming materials and verify specifications.
• Perform in-process and final inspections on fabrication and welding works.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Check dimensions using measuring tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes, and welding gauges.
• Ensure welding work complies with approved procedures and quality requirements.
• Identify, report, and segregate non-conforming materials or products.
• Prepare and maintain inspection reports, NCRs, and other quality records.
• Ensure measuring equipment is calibrated before use.
• Support customer inspections and internal/external quality audits.
• Work closely with Production and Engineering to resolve quality issues.
• Follow company safety rules and wear the required PPE.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.
