Job summary

AME Construction SDN BHD in Malaysia is seeking a qualified QC Inspector to ensure steel structure fabrication, welding, erection, NDT, and coating activities comply with drawings, project specs, quality standards, and HSE requirements.

You will conduct material inspections, verify MTCs, inspect welds and dimensions, coordinate NDT, manage NCRs, and prepare quality dossiers, collaborating with production, engineering, clients, and inspectors.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Welding, Metallurgical, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 1-5 years of experience in steel structure fabrication, welding inspection, and erection projects.
• Experience in welding inspection, NDT coordination, dimensional control, and coating inspection.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, AISC, ASME Section V & IX, ISO 3834, ISO 5817, SSPC/NACE, and related standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Strong skills in quality documentation, NCR management, communication, and coordination.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
• CSWIP 3.0 Welding Inspector or AWS CWI.
• ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor.
• Structural Bolting Inspection, Working at Height, or other HSE-related certifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect material compliance, verify MTCs and material traceability.
• Inspect fit-up, joint preparation, dimensions, welding activities and weld quality.
• Coordinate and witness NDT activities (VT, MT, PT, UT, RT) and review reports.
• Perform dimensional checks, final inspections, and monitor weld repairs.
• Inspect surface preparation, blasting, painting, coating applications, and DFT measurements.
• Conduct site inspections of erected steel structures, bolting works, and site NDT activities.
• Prepare RFIs, inspection reports, punch lists, NCRs, and quality dossiers.
• Verify corrective actions and close non-conformities.
• Coordinate with production, engineering, clients, and third-party inspectors.
• Ensure calibration of inspection equipment and compliance with QMS and HSE requirements.

What We’re Looking For

1-5 years of experience in steel structure fabrication, welding inspection, and erection projects.

Experience in welding inspection, NDT coordination, dimensional control, and coating inspection.

Knowledge of AWS D1.1, AISC, ASME Section V & IX, ISO 3834, ISO 5817, SSPC/NACE, and related standards.
