A. Installation & Setup
JOB SUMMARY
The Washing Machine & Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, servicing, and repair of washing machines, refrigerators, freezers, and related household appliances.
The technician will attend to customer service requests, diagnose technical and mechanical problems, perform repairs or component replacements, conduct functional testing, and ensure all completed work meets company, manufacturer, safety, and service quality standards.
The position requires strong knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, refrigeration, and appliance systems, together with good troubleshooting and customer service skills.
A. Installation & Setup
Perform installation and setup of washing machines, refrigerators, freezers, and related appliances.
Inspect the installation location and ensure appliances are positioned safely and correctly.
Level washing machines and ensure proper stability during operation.
Connect water inlet and drainage systems correctly where applicable.
Ensure refrigerators and freezers have adequate ventilation and appropriate installation clearance.
Check electrical connections and ensure safe operating conditions.
Conduct initial testing after installation to ensure proper operation.
Explain basic operation, usage, maintenance, and safety instructions to customers.
Ensure the installation area is clean and properly restored after completion.
B. Troubleshooting & Diagnosis
Diagnose washing machine and refrigeration appliance faults using systematic troubleshooting methods.
Identify electrical, electronic, mechanical, refrigeration, water-flow, drainage, temperature-control, vibration, and operational problems.
Inspect components such as:
Motors
Compressors
Condensers
Evaporators
Fans
Thermostats
Temperature sensors
Control boards
Relays
Capacitors
Pumps
Valves
Belts
Bearings
Door locks
Water inlet valves
Drainage systems
Refrigeration piping and related components
Use appropriate testing tools and equipment to identify the root cause of technical issues.
Refer to technical manuals, wiring diagrams, service procedures, and manufacturer guidelines when required.
Determine whether the appliance requires adjustment, repair, component replacement, or further technical escalation.
C. Refrigeration Servicing & Repair
Diagnose and repair refrigeration-related faults in refrigerators and freezers.
Inspect refrigeration systems for abnormal cooling performance, temperature issues, frost build-up, unusual noise, leakage, and compressor-related problems.
Inspect compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans, thermostats, sensors, relays, capacitors, and related components.
Perform refrigerant-related servicing, recovery, evacuation, and charging where authorized and appropriately trained.
Check refrigeration systems for possible leaks and abnormal pressure conditions.
Conduct system performance testing after repair or servicing.
Ensure refrigeration work is performed safely and in accordance with applicable technical and environmental requirements.
Escalate major refrigeration system failures or work outside the technician's authorized competency.
D. Washing Machine Repair & Maintenance
Carry out repair and replacement of defective washing machine components.
Perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing.
Inspect and maintain pumps, motors, valves, sensors, belts, bearings, door locks, hoses, filters, and control boards.
Diagnose issues such as abnormal vibration, water leakage, drainage failure, spinning problems, noise, power failure, and error codes.
Conduct functional testing after every repair or maintenance activity.
Ensure repaired appliances are safely reassembled and restored to proper operating condition.
F. Service Documentation & Reporting
Complete service reports accurately after every installation, inspection, maintenance, or repair.
Record the customer's reported issue, diagnosis, work performed, parts replaced, and final test results.
Update service status through the company's designated system or reporting platform.
Record spare parts, refrigerant, materials, and other items used during each service job.
Escalate unresolved, repeated, or major technical issues to the Team Leader or Technical Supervisor.
G. Tools, Equipment & Spare Parts
Properly use and maintain assigned tools, testing instruments, refrigeration equipment, and service equipment.
Ensure all tools and equipment are kept in good working condition.
Maintain proper control and usage records of spare parts and service materials.
Report missing, damaged, or defective tools and equipment immediately.
Avoid unnecessary wastage or misuse of company-provided parts and equipment.
H. Safety & Compliance
Follow all company safety policies, technical SOPs, and manufacturer service procedures.
Ensure electrical supplies are safely isolated before carrying out repair work where required.
Follow proper procedures when handling refrigeration systems and refrigerants.
Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Maintain a clean and safe working environment at customer premises.
Ensure all repair and installation work complies with applicable safety requirements.
Immediately report safety hazards, accidents, equipment damage, refrigerant leakage, or serious technical risks to the supervisor.
Do not perform work beyond the technician's authorized competency without proper approval or supervision.
