Job summary

Eternal Materials in Malaysia is seeking a Project Engineer to plan, coordinate and execute improvement, modification and maintenance projects across chemical plants. You will review quotations, drawings, supervise site activities, handle PTW, MOC, HAZOP, and ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and experience in chemical plants or process industries; strong English communication and safety awareness required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or related discipline.
• Experience in project engineering, plant engineering or maintenance engineering.
• Experience in chemical plants, tank farms, or process industries preferred.
• Must be well versed in HAZOP and MOC requirements.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs.
• Good knowledge of pumps, valves, piping, tanks and general plant equipment.
• Familiar with PTW, risk assessment, method statements and PSSR.
• Able to coordinate contractors and manage site work independently.
• Good problem-solving and project follow-up skills.
• Able to communicate effectively in English with contractors and suppliers.
• Strong awareness of safety, process safety and engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute improvement, modification, and maintenance projects.
• Prepare project scope, technical specifications, cost estimates and schedules.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers and internal departments.
• Review quotations, drawings, method statements and technical proposals.
• Supervise site activities and ensure work is completed safely, on time and according to specification.
• Handle Permit to Work (PTW) and other project-related documentation.
• Monitor project progress and follow up on outstanding works until completion.
• Support equipment installation, piping modification, shutdown, start-up and commissioning activities.
• Ensure all plant modifications are properly managed through MOC.
• Participate in and support HAZOP, risk assessment and PSSR activities.
• Follow up and close HAZOP, MOC and project action items.
• Read, interpret and verify P&IDs, engineering drawings and actual site conditions.
• Ensure P&IDs and relevant engineering documents are updated after modifications.
• Support troubleshooting and improvement of equipment such as pumps, valves, piping and storage tanks.
