Vision Application Engineer (Chip AOI Equipment)

Job summary

Private Advertiser seeks a Technical owner for chip AOI equipment vision software, responsible for translating product and process requirements into precise vision specifications and evaluating supplier imaging plans. You will lead on-site and remote debugging, ensure detection targets and stability, and drive FAT/SAT acceptance with strong vendor coordination.

You will also manage issue logs, 8D reporting, and documentation, coordinating software versions and recipe files across sites in Asia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Optics/Physics, or related fields
• 3–5 years of machine vision experience, with at least 1 year in AOI or semiconductor/electronics inspection equipment
• Solid understanding of image processing (matching, blob, edge, calibration) and vision hardware selection (cameras, lenses, light sources)
• Hands-on experience with vision tools like HALCON, VisionPro, or OpenCV for parameter tuning and verification
• Experience in semiconductor back-end / OSAT processes (dicing, die attach, wire bonding, molding, testing) or vendor management is a strong plus

Responsibilities

• Translate product and process requirements (defect types, accuracy, detection rate, over-kill rate, UPH) into vision technical specifications
• Evaluate supplier optical imaging plans (cameras, lenses, lights), algorithm logic, and software architecture
• Conduct proof-of-concept (POC) lighting tests when necessary
• Track development milestones, participate in on-site/remote debugging, analyze false calls / missed detections, and enforce root-cause resolution
• Lead FAT at supplier sites and SAT at customer/production sites based on GR&R, UPH, and stability criteria
• Maintain prioritized issue logs, request 8D reports for repetitive issues, manage software versions, recipe files, code/license handovers, and documentation

Business Travel to suppliers/clients

(China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia) is a must requirement for this role (ratio depends on projects)
