Acuvet Veterinary Clinic – George Town, Penang

Acuvet Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinarian to join our dedicated team in George Town, Penang. This is a full-time position where you will provide comprehensive veterinary care to a diverse range of animal patients. As a key member of our clinical team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality medical and surgical services whilst ensuring the welfare and well-being of all animals under our care. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on animal health and contribute to the professional standards of veterinary practice in our community.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough clinical examinations and diagnose medical and surgical conditions in various animal species
• Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans, including prescribing medications and therapies
• Perform surgical procedures, including routine and emergency surgeries, with precision and care
• Administer vaccinations, preventative treatments and health screening programmes
• Provide compassionate care for the pets and counselling to pet owners
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical records in accordance with professional standards
• Educate pet owners on animal nutrition, behaviour, disease prevention and post-operative care
• Collaborate with veterinary nurses and support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Stay current with developments in veterinary medicine and best practice protocols
• Ensure compliance with all relevant animal welfare legislation and clinic policies

What we’re looking for

• A recognised Veterinary degree or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution
• Current registration and valid practising licence with the relevant veterinary regulatory body in Malaysia
• Proven clinical experience working in small animal, large animal or mixed practice settings
• Proficiency in diagnostic techniques including clinical pathology, radiography and ultrasound
• Competency in surgical procedures and anaesthesia management
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical concepts to pet owners clearly and compassionately
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• A genuine passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing ethical veterinary care
• Problem-solving abilities and sound clinical judgement in emergency situations
• Willingness to engage in continuous professional development and stay abreast of advances in veterinary medicine
