Job summary

User Experience Researchers Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced Unix/Linux Application Support Engineer to provide L2/L3 production support for systems running in Unix/Linux environments in Kuala Lumpur. The role includes BAU activities, incident resolution, monitoring, and collaboration with development and operations teams.

You will execute shell scripts, run Oracle SQL and MySQL queries, and participate in change management and on-call rotations, including weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Unix/Linux, Application Support, Production Support, or a related technical role.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Unix/Linux commands and environments.
• Strong experience with Shell Scripting.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle SQL and database query language.
• Working knowledge of MySQL and MySQL query language.
• Experience with production/application support and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of GitLab and source/version control processes.
• Knowledge of JFrog/Artifactory and artifact management.
• Experience or knowledge of Zabbix monitoring.
• Good understanding of system monitoring, log analysis, incident troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with technical teams.
• Willingness to work on rotational shifts and on-call support, including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 application and production support for systems running in Unix/Linux environments.
• Perform daily BAU activities, operational support, system monitoring, and assigned technical tasks.
• Troubleshoot application, system, and database-related issues and drive incidents through to resolution.
• Execute and maintain Unix/Linux commands and Shell scripts for system administration, automation, monitoring, and operational activities.
• Perform Oracle SQL and MySQL queries for data validation, troubleshooting, investigation, and production support.
• Monitor system and application health using tools such as Zabbix and respond to alerts appropriately.
• Work with GitLab and JFrog as part of application deployment, version control, and artifact management activities.
• Analyse logs, identify root causes, and support incident resolution within agreed service levels.
• Participate in incident, problem, and change management activities.
• Support application deployments and production changes when required.
• Prepare and maintain operational documentation, troubleshooting guides, and support procedures.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, database, and other technical teams to resolve production issues.
• Perform shift and rotational on-call support, including weekends and public holidays.
• Ensure assigned tasks and BAU activities are completed within agreed timelines.
