Job summary

KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital seeks an Operations Manager to provide leadership for the Operation Theatre Nursing Unit, ensuring safe, efficient, patient-centred perioperative care and compliance with hospital policies.   • Monitor and drive quality assurance, infection control, and fire/safety programmes.

Job description

To provide effective clinical, operational and administrative leadership for the Operation Theatre Nursing Unit, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, high-quality and patient-centred perioperative nursing care.

Key responsibilities

Ensure high standard of care is delivered in a safe, effective, efficient and caring manner; and organizes, directs and coordinates with the other services in the Facility.

Direct supervision and co-ordination of the activities in the allocated unit / ward, in line with the policies and procedures of Nursing Services and hospital.

Works closely with her nursing team, consultants / doctors, collaborates with other departments / personnel in overseeing patient care is being delivered for optimal client satisfaction.

Follows consultants’ ward round with the team leader and assists in procedures.

Participates in the planning, development and evaluation of nursing facilities and services

Fully receptive and supportive in the activities that contribute towards continuous improvement of nursing service e.g. Quality Assurance, Infection Control, Fire and Safety Programme.

Monitors the quality of care / service in designated unit and subsequently initiates action and implementation of the corrective measures.

Control and coordinate the work on non-medical staff with the department allocation staff according to need, applying maximum delegation compatible with safety.

Coordinates with anaesthetists in the operation schedule and scheduled cases according to staffing and availability of operation rooms.

Supervises maintenance of the operation register in co-operation with appropriate staff.

Monitors and reports departures from best practices related to operation theatre activity.

Monitor Operation Theatre environment, ensure air quality being conducted yearly.

Conduct random/regular audit on Operation Theatre practices.

Reviews the organization and management of the services and report to the appropriate personnel, the efficiency of existing operational policies particularly with relation to: Allocation of theatres, Provision for emergency surgery, Length of operating sessions.
