We are partnering with a highly agile, lean fintech company in Kuala Lumpur to hire a hands‑on Lead Software Engineer. Our client operates with a strict "no spoon‑feeding" culture where radical ownership is expected across a team of about 25 high‑performing individuals. They are heavily utilizing AI to augment their development workflows and are looking for a deeply technical leader to take charge of a dedicated development unit, modernize platforms, and drive product execution.

Responsibilities

Lead & Mentor: Manage a team of 4-5 direct reports divided into two core squads: a Crypto Exchange team and an Internal/External Tools team (managing an open‑source CRM and client‑facing portals).

Hands‑on Development: Drive architecture and write clean, scalable code using a modern stack consisting of full-stack NestJS, PostgreSQL, and Node.js.

Modernize & Innovate: Ensure all new features and external client‑facing platforms are built utilizing the latest TypeScript standards.

AI Integration: Incorporate AI (such as Claude CODE and OpenAI) directly into your daily development, debugging, and wireframing processes.

Requirements

Experience: Minimum 4–5+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience, ideally with a track record of tenure (3+ years at previous roles preferred, though project‑based work is acceptable if justified).

Technical Mastery: Exceptional proficiency in TypeScript, NestJS, Node.js, and PostgreSQL. Crucial: You must have a deep, foundational understanding of TypeScript interfaces and advanced typing concepts.

AI Fluency: You already use AI tools to code faster, debug, or brainstorm architecture, and you have a positive, modern mindset toward AI adoption.

Communication & Ownership: Exceptional ability to clearly explain architectural trade‑offs, past projects, and technical choices. You are someone who takes a project from conception to deployment and understands the "big picture."

Assessment Readiness: Must be able to pass a rigorous technical deep‑dive interview with the CTO and successfully complete a live coding test.
