Job summary

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Tooling Technician, preferably in plastic injection industry.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and selecting appropriate tooling.
• Familiarity with tooling fixtures, dies and mould components.

Responsibilities

• Assembles, fits, calibrates and debugs tooling for smooth movement and accuracy.
• Diagnoses defects and performs corrective maintenance or machining on mold components.
• Coordinates with production and mold designers to adjust tooling dimensions for part quality.
• Performs routine maintenance and preventive servicing on tooling equipment to minimise downtime.
• Assists in designing and developing new tooling solutions to improve processes.
• Documents tooling performance and maintains ISO-compliant health and safety records.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Tooling Technician to join Ichiplas (M) Sdn Bhd in Johor Bahru. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our manufacturing operations within the Tooling function. You will be responsible for the setup, repair/maintenance and optimisation of tooling equipment used in our production processes. This role is essential to ensuring the efficiency, quality, and consistency of our manufacturing output, directly contributing to our operational excellence and business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Mold Assembly & Testing: Assembles, fits, calibrate and debugs to ensure smooth mechanical movement and accuracy.
• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnoses defects like wear, flash or misalignment, performs hands‑on corrective maintenance or machining on mold components.
• Process Co-ordination: Collaborates with production teams and mold designers to modify or rectify tooling dimensions based on part quality
• Perform routine maintenance and preventive servicing on tooling equipment to minimise downtime
• Assist in the design and development of new tooling solutions to improve manufacturing processes
• Document tooling performance, ensure ISO compliance records with health & safety regulation

What we're looking for

• Technical Knowledge : Ability to read 2D/#D engineering drawing, use precision measuring tools, and operate basic workshop machinery(milling, grinding, EDM)
• Minimum 5 years of hand‑on experience as a Tooling Technician, preferably in plastic injection industry
• Strong knowledge of tooling equipment, fixtures, dies, and moulds used in manufacturing processes
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and technical problems effectively
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of team work
