Job summary

Carsem (M) Sdn. Bhd. in Ipoh, Malaysia seeks a tooling engineer to provide technical guidance and support to technicians on trim and form tooling activities to ensure high tool performance, product quality and production uptime.

The role coordinates tooling tasks, maintains tooling, performs preventive maintenance and develops 3D models using design software to support tooling modifications and continuous improvement in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Mechatronic Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and support to technicians on trim and form tooling activities.

Job description

Provide technical guidance and support to technicians on trim and form tooling activities to ensure high tool performance, product quality, and production uptime.

Coordinate and monitor tooling tasks, ensuring timely completion and effective follow-up.

Maintain current trim and form tooling and support new activities for volume product expansion.

Perform preventive maintenance, tool life control, and troubleshooting for trim and form tooling and equipment.

Support daily production line activities to minimize downtime and resolve tooling issues.

Develop and generate 3D models using design software to support tooling modifications, improvements, and engineering requirements.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Special Skills

Able to read electrical circuit diagrams and PLC ladder diagrams.

Knowledge of automatic equipment electrical components.

Proficient in AutoCAD and 3D design software.

Requirements

Both factories maintain world-class quality standards having achieved ISO/TS 16949, ISO-9001, ISO-14001 certifications and comply to the Sony Green Partner Program. They are supported with a global network of sales and technical support offices. The China factory, Carsem-Suzhou Ltd., is located in the province of Jiangsu, 50 miles (80Km) west of Shanghai. The new factory is 172K sq. ft. (16K sq. m.) and is on 645K sq. ft. (60K sq. m.) of land in the Suzhou Industrial Park. The construction was completed in January 2004, the staff has been through extensive training in Carsem's existing Malaysian factories and the assembly and test equipment to support the manufacture of the MLP (Micro Leadframe Package) Quad and Dual was installed during the second quarter of 2004. Customer qualifications were completed during the second quarter and the factory started shipping production volumes during the third quarter of 2004.
