Job summary

Ennovi Medical Sdn. Bhd. seeks a Tooling Engineer to design, develop, and optimize stamping tooling and related fixtures for high-quality manufacturing. You will support NPI, tooling validation, and process qualification to meet customer requirements.

The role involves reviewing drawings and GD&T, troubleshooting tooling issues, conducting root-cause analyses, and driving cost-saving improvements with Lean/Six Sigma approaches.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify, and optimize stamping dies, tooling components, fixtures, and gauges.
• Support new product introduction (NPI), tooling validation, and process qualification activities.
• Provide technical support for stamping operations to achieve quality, yield, productivity, and customer requirements.
• Review engineering drawings, product specifications, and GD&T requirements to ensure tooling designs meet functional and quality requirements.
• Troubleshoot tooling, die, and process-related issues and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Conduct root cause analysis for tooling failures, non-conforming products, customer complaints, and CAPA activities.
• Analyze tooling performance, tool wear trends, process capability, and production data to improve tooling reliability and manufacturing efficiency.
• Lead tooling improvement projects focused on yield improvement, scrap reduction, tool life optimization, cycle time reduction, and cost savings.
• Establish, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance programs for stamping dies and tooling systems.
• Coordinate tooling fabrication, repair, modification, and refurbishment activities with internal toolmakers / tooling technicians and external suppliers.
• Operate and support toolroom equipment including surface grinders, lathe machines, milling machines, EDM, wire-cut, and other precision machining equipment as required for tooling fabrication, modification, repair, and maintenance activities.
• Support tooling fabrication, assembly, fitting, try-out, and commissioning activities to ensure tooling meets design and production requirements.
• Monitor tooling spare parts inventory and recommend critical spare requirements to ensure uninterrupted production.
• Support supplier qualification, tooling acceptance, and technical evaluation of new tooling and tooling components.
• Evaluate, implement, and document tooling modifications through Engineering Change Management (ECN) processes.
• Create, update, review, and maintain stamping-related documentation, including tooling drawings, specifications, SOPs, work instructions, setup procedures, maintenance procedures, validation documents, troubleshooting guides, and engineering records.
• Prepare technical reports, tooling performance metrics, and project status updates.
• Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve process robustness.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Participate in risk assessments and implement actions to mitigate tooling and process-related risks.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, GMP requirements, regulatory requirements, and company Quality Management System procedures.
• Ensure all tooling activities are performed in accordance with Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) requirements and company policies.
• Support cost reduction, tooling localization, and productivity improvement initiatives.
