Job summary

Mass Precision in Malaysia seeks an experienced CNC Machinist to join our metal fabrication team. You will set up tooling, run CNC programs, oversee floor operations, inspect parts and ensure production runs on schedule.

Diploma holders with 3+ years in sheet metal and knowledge of 3/5 axis machines are preferred. Proficiency in English and a strong mechanical aptitude are required for success.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of CNC processes, esp. vertical mill and lathe.
• Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with 3 and 5 axis machines.
• Experience managing CNC shopfloor is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and problem solving.
• Operates tapping heads, countersinks, Amada bandsaws, drill presses, protractors, mills and thread gauges.
• Diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Experience with machine tools or mechanical assembly.

Responsibilities

• Set up and measure tooling for CAM lists and offset pre-sets.
• Oversee and raise purchase requisitions for shop supplies.
• Perform tool setup, machine setup and run CNC programs.
• Oversee CNC floor to maintain schedule and procedures.
• Review drawings/instructions for accuracy.
• Take precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
• Check outputs for quality and document defects.
• Identify maintenance needs and perform minor repairs.
• Check thread pitch diameter with thread gauges.
• Use band saws for precision cutting of tubes/bars.
• Operate drill press for drilling, tapping, countersinking and reaming.
• Perform precision milling and drilling on vertical mills with DRO.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

• Set up and measure tooling for jobs using CAM generated tool lists and tool offset pre-setter.
• Oversee and raise purchase requisition shop supplies including thread gages, gage pins and other shop related tools.
• Perform tool setup, machine setup and run CNC program.
• Oversee the CNC manufacturing floor, ensure product is running as schedule with correct procedure.
• Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production.
• Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
• Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects.
• Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Sets tapping head and uses tapper for threading holes in sheetmetal parts.
• Checks thread pitch diameter for correctness using a thread gauge.
• Uses band saws for precision cutting of tube stock and bar stock using programmable auto feed.
• Works with the drill press for drilling, tapping, counter sinking and reaming holes into sheetmetal pieces.
• Responsible for precision milling and drilling on vertical mills, using 2 axes digital readout system.
• Any other responsibility which may be assigned from time to time by superior.

REQUIREMENTS

• Good knowledge in CNC process, especially vertical mill and lathe/turning.
• Proficient in English communication and writing skills, i.e. email, MPI, MES and report.
• Proven ability in machining cutter/setup and familiar with 3 and 5 axes machine.
• Experienced in small and medium size CNC shopfloor management is better.
• Must have a mechanical aptitude.
• Proper operation and use of tappers, counter sinks, Amada bandsaws, drill presses, protractors, vertical mills and thread gauges.
• Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly.
