Job summary

Radical Internetwork Sdn Bhd is seeking a motivated Testing & Commissioning Engineer to plan, coordinate, execute, and document testing for IT infrastructure, data centres, ELV and related M&E systems. You will liaise with project teams, clients and vendors to ensure systems are tested and handed over per specifications.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to travel to project sites as needed. A 2–5 year track record in similar projects is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant engineering field.
• 2–5 years of experience in Testing & Commissioning, M&E, ELV, ICT infrastructure, or data centre projects.
• Strong understanding of testing procedures, documentation, and project requirements.
• Able to read engineering drawings and electrical/IT schematics.

Job description

We are seeking a motivated and technically competent Testing & Commissioning Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and documenting testing and commissioning activities for IT infrastructure, data centre, ELV systems, and related M&E systems.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work closely with project teams, consultants, clients, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure all systems are properly tested, commissioned, and handed over in accordance with project specifications and requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute Testing & Commissioning (T&C) activities in accordance with project requirements, specifications, and approved procedures.
• Prepare and review T&C plans, test procedures, checklists, method statements, and testing schedules.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Design & Engineering teams, ELV teams, site teams, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and clients to ensure smooth execution of T&C activities.
• Conduct and supervise pre-commissioning, functional testing, performance testing, system integration testing, and final acceptance testing.
• Perform testing and commissioning activities for IT infrastructure, data centre systems, ELV systems, and related M&E systems as assigned.
• Verify that installed systems and equipment are ready for testing and commissioning before commencement of testing activities.
• Carry out functional and performance testing based on approved testing procedures and project specifications.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues encountered during testing and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with relevant technical teams, subcontractors, and vendors to rectify defects, non-conformities, and testing failures.
• Ensure all testing activities are properly recorded and supported with accurate test results, checklists, inspection records, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare T&C reports, test certificates, testing records, punch lists, and other required project documentation.
• Monitor the progress of T&C activities against the project schedule and highlight any potential delays, technical issues, or resource requirements.
• Attend site meetings, technical meetings, coordination meetings, and client/consultant discussions relating to T&C activities when required.
• Provide technical support and guidance to T&C supervisors, technicians, subcontractors, and site teams during testing and commissioning activities.
• Ensure testing equipment, instruments, tools, and relevant resources are available, calibrated, and suitable for the required testing activities.
• Coordinate system demonstrations and testing activities with clients, consultants, and relevant authorities where required.
• Support the preparation of final handover documentation, including test reports, commissioning records, as-built documentation, and operation and maintenance documentation.
• Follow up on outstanding testing issues, punch lists, and rectification works until successful completion and acceptance.
• Ensure all T&C activities comply with company QHSE requirements, project specifications, approved method statements, risk assessments, and applicable statutory requirements.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in T&C processes, testing procedures, documentation, and project execution.
• Maintain proper records of testing and commissioning activities and ensure all documentation is submitted within the required timeline.
• Perform other technical duties and responsibilities related to Testing & Commissioning as assigned by the management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in Testing & Commissioning, M&E, ELV, ICT infrastructure, data centre, or related engineering projects.
• Experience in testing and commissioning of IT infrastructure, data centre, ELV, M&E, or similar systems will be an added advantage.
• Good understanding of testing procedures, commissioning processes, technical documentation, and project requirements.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, single-line diagrams, schematics, and technical documents.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills with internal teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
• Willing to travel to project sites and work outside normal working hours when required to support testing and commissioning activities.
• Able to work independently as well as part of a project team.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
