Job summary

Western Digital in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a Test Operations Technician to support PN Test manufacturing. You will manage test heads, monitor processes, perform inspections, troubleshoot, and assist engineers to ensure safe, efficient production.

You will maintain inventory records, support data collection, participate in failure investigations, and assist with equipment qualification and software updates for testers and automated test equipment. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or related technical field.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Up to 2 years of working experience in manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support daily PN Test operations to meet production, quality, and delivery requirements.
• Perform test head setup, handling, inspection, and basic troubleshooting according to procedures.
• Manage test head inventory control, tracking, deployment, and movement for availability.
• Monitor test head condition and escalate abnormalities to engineers/senior technicians.
• Support Glide and TDS activities, including spec updates and process monitoring.
• Collect data and support product failure investigations and defect analysis.
• Assist in equipment setup and recipe configuration for production and engineering lots.
• Assist engineers and technicians with qualification activities.
• Support software installation, validation, and updates for testers and automated test equipment.
• Perform microscope inspections for defect identification and contamination assessment.
• Maintain inventory records, repair status, and asset movements.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external providers for test head repair/maintenance.
• Follow SOPs and ISO/EHS requirements during operations.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas and test head storage.
