Job summary

Randstad Malaysia is recruiting a Technical Manager to lead its R&D and technical team in the polymer and chemical manufacturing sector, focusing on innovation, product development, and customer-centric technical solutions.

You will guide formulation development, scale-up, and technology transfer, working closely with Sales, Production, Quality, and Procurement to align technical initiatives with business goals.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or Materials Science.
• Proven leadership of R&D/technical teams in polymer, rubber, or chemical manufacturing.
• Strong expertise in formulation development, compounding, and NPD.
• Experience with technology transfer and stage-gate projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the R&D and technical teams to drive innovation.
• Oversee new product development from concept to commercialization.
• Develop and optimize polymer formulations for performance and cost.
• Drive scale-up and technology transfer to production.
• Collaborate with Sales, Production, Quality, and Procurement.

About the Manager/Team

• Master's Degree or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience leading R&D or technical teams within the polymer, rubber, chemical, or related manufacturing industries.
• Strong expertise in formulation development, compounding, polymer chemistry, and new product development (NPD).
• Hands‑on experience with product commercialisation, technology transfer, and stage‑gate project management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage customers on technical matters.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem‑solving capabilities.
