Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Technical Manager (Polymer and Chemical) to lead its R&D and technical team in advancing product development, formulations, and customer-focused technical solutions within the polymer and chemical manufacturing domain.

The role requires a Master's degree or higher with proven leadership in polymer/chemical industries, strong formulation expertise, and experience driving projects from concept to commercialization.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience leading R&D or technical teams within the polymer, rubber, chemical, or related manufacturing industries.
• Strong expertise in formulation development, compounding, polymer chemistry, and new product development (NPD).
• Hands-on experience with product commercialisation, technology transfer, and stage-gate project management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage customers on technical matters.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the technical and R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Drive new product development from concept, formulation, laboratory validation, pilot trials through to commercialisation.
• Develop and optimise polymer formulations to enhance product performance, quality, and cost competitiveness.
• Lead scale-up and technology transfer activities to ensure smooth production implementation.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Production, Quality, and Procurement teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Provide technical consultation to customers, understand application requirements, and resolve product-related challenges.
• Ensure compliance with relevant quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Identify and evaluate new raw materials and technologies to support innovation and business growth.
