Job summary

The Lubrizol Corporation in Malaysia seeks a senior technical professional to lead development and application activities for ESD polymer products across Southeast Asia. You will partner with manufacturing, process technology, and global teams to scale-up, optimize processes, and drive commercialization while solving customer challenges.

Ideally, you bring 5+ years in polymer application and product development, strong communication skills, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• Master and above degree in Polymers, Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related subjects.
• 5+ years of polymer application & product development working experience.
• In-depth understanding of polymer structure-processing-property relationship; hands-on formulation development.
• Strong analytical and problem-anticipation/solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences (internal & external).
• Fluency in oral and written English.
• Well versed in polymer property evaluation per ASTM, ISO, ANSI, UL and others.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, optimization, and commercialization of ESD/IDP polymer products and solutions.
• Partner with manufacturing and process technology teams to support scale-up, process optimization, quality improvement, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Support product portfolio development and technology roadmaps to strengthen market competitiveness.
• Serve as the primary technical interface for key customers, building strong relationships and providing high-quality technical support in ESD business.
• Work closely with customers to understand application requirements, identify technical challenges, and deliver material solutions.
• Lead customer trials, qualification activities, troubleshooting efforts, and commercialization projects.
• Support customer complaint investigation and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Act as the key technical contact for TPU customers and opportunities across Southeast Asia.
• Provide scientific and technical support to manufacturing/operations: technology transfer, scale-up, troubleshooting.
• Proactively communicate with stakeholders on project progress and address gaps and barriers.
• Translate application requirements into product specifications for existing or new products.
• Identify applications and marketing opportunities, build the application development platforms and capabilities.
• Maintain awareness of competitive products and technologies.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Product Management, Regulatory, and Global Technology teams to achieve business goals.
• Lead cross-functional project teams for successful delivery.
• Mentor the Seremban technical team with timely feedback and leadership.

Accountability

The purpose of this role is to lead the development technical service and application development activities of ESD polymer products while serving as a key technical partner for TPU business growth across Southeast Asia. The position requires close collaboration with customers, sales, manufacturing, and global technology teams to drive innovation, solve customer challenges, accelerate commercialization, and support strategic business growth; be responsible for ESD platform capacities enhancement and people development.

Education Background

REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

• Master and above degree in Polymers, Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related subjects

Technical Skills

• 5+ years of polymer application & product development working experience
• In-depth understanding of polymer structure-processing-property relationship, hands-on experience in product & compounding formulation development
• Strong analytical and problem anticipation & solving skills;
• ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences (internal & external)
• highly motivated towards goals & objectives
• Fluency in oral and written English
• Well versed in polymer property evaluation including physical, mechanical and electrical properties based on Standards such as ASTM, ISO, ANSI, UL and others.

Other Experiences Preferred

• Compounding product recipe experience on various engineering plastic, including PC/PEEK/PP/COC
• Familiar with extrusion/molding process.
• Deep understanding of thermoplastic elastomer property, including TPU, TPE, TPV, TPEE.
