Lubrizol Corporation in Seremban, Malaysia is seeking an Application Development & Tech Service Engineer to lead development, optimization, and commercialization of ESD/IDP polymer products for Southeast Asia. You will work closely with customers, manufacturing, and global technology teams to drive innovation and support TPU business growth.

The role requires a Master’s degree or higher in polymers or related fields, 5+ years in polymer applications, and strong communication skills in English.

• Serve as the primary technical interface for key customers in SEA.
• Translate customer requirements into product specifications.
• Lead cross-functional project teams for on-time delivery.
• Mentor Seremban technical team and support technology transfer.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The purpose of this role is to lead the development technical service and application development activities of ESD polymer products while serving as a key technical partner for TPU business growth across Southeast Asia. The position requires close collaboration with customers, sales, manufacturing, and global technology teams to drive innovation, solve customer challenges, accelerate commercialization, and support strategic business growth; be responsible for ESD platform capacities enhancement and people development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the development, optimization, and commercialization of ESD/IDP polymer products and solutions.
• Partner with manufacturing and process technology teams to support scale-up, process optimization, quality improvement, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Support product portfolio development and technology roadmaps to strengthen market competitiveness.
• Serve as the primary technical interface for key customers, building strong relationships and providing high-quality technical support in ESD business.
• Work closely with customers to understand application requirements, identify technical challenges, and deliver material solutions.
• Lead customer trials, qualification activities, troubleshooting efforts, and commercialization projects.
• Support customer complaint investigation and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Act as the key technical contact for TPU customers and business opportunities across Southeast Asia.
• Provide scientific and technical support to manufacturing / operations: technology transfer, scale-up, troubleshooting.
• Proactively communicate with different stakeholders on project progress and timely address potential gaps and barriers
• Translate application requirements into product specifications of existing products or new direction for product development.
• Identify potential applications and marketing opportunities, build the application development platforms with focus and propose the capabilities set up.
• Maintain awareness of competitive products and technologies in related fields
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Product Management, Regulatory, and Global Technology teams to achieve business objectives.
• Lead cross-functional project teams to ensure effective execution and successful project delivery.
• People development by providing timely feedback & appraisal, Provide leadership in mentoring Seremban technical team.

REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

Education Background:

• Master and above degree in Polymers, Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related subjects

Technical Skills:

• 5+ years of polymer application & product development working experience
• In-depth understanding of polymer structure-processing-property relationship, hands-on experience in product & compounding formulation development
• Strong analytical and problem anticipation & solving skills;
• ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences (internal & external)
• highly motivated towards goals & objectives
• Fluency in oral and written English
• Well versed in polymer property evaluation including physical, mechanical and electrical properties based on Standards such as ASTM, ISO, ANSI, UL and others.

Other Experiences Preferred:

• Compounding product recipe experience on various engineering plastic, including PC/PEEK/PP/COC
• Familiar with extrusion/molding process.
• Deep understanding of thermoplastic elastomer property, including TPU, TPE, TPV, TPEE.
