Job summary

GE Vernova in Asia seeks a Technical Leader for Regional Customer Applications to lead technical provisions during ITO phases of complex gas turbine upgrade projects.

You will own solution design, coordinate with Sales, initiate engineering sign-offs, drive LEAN improvements, and manage interfaces for extended scope, while guiding the RAE team.

Qualifications

• B.Tech/M.Tech Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institute.
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in gas turbine-based power plants including design, performance & cost evaluation.
• Strong understanding of gas turbine upgrades and impact on steam turbine, generator and plant BOP.

Responsibilities

• Define best Gas Turbine / Combine Cycle upgrade solutions to meet customer KPIs during ITO.
• Own and manage the deliverables of the RAE team from a techno-commercial standpoint.
• Partner with regional sales and contribute to regional strategy development.
• Lead holistic plant-wide solutions for complex/extended scope upgrades and manage technical interfaces.
• Lead risk reviews and mitigate technical risks during ITO, plan residual risks for OTR.

• Assess downstream equipment life impact and provide feasibility reports.
• Interface with engineering to assess retrofitting non-GEV parts.

Job Description Summary
The broad function of the HD Services Application Engineering Technical Leader is to act as the responsible authority and interface with Sales and Commercial Operations for all CM&U proposals including Complex and Extended scope upgrade projects involving design, production and performance of gas turbines, steam turbine, generator and plant BOP upgrades during the Pre ITO / ITO phase of a project for Asia region.Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

• Responsible for defining the best Gas Turbine / Combine Cycle Plant upgrade solutions to fulfill customer KPIs during the ITO phase of a transaction on-time to the customer bid need dates.
• Own and Manage the deliverables of the RAE team from techno-commercial stand point.
• Strategic partner of the regional sales team and participate in regional sales/proposal strategy development
• Own and develop holistic solution at a plant-wide level for complex and extended scope projects. Manage technical integration of the solution and manage interfaces for Extended Scope.
• Lead project risk reviews. Mitigate the technical risks as much as possible during the ITO part of the complex solution. Identify plan and cost for the residual risks that needs to be mitigated during OTR.
• Lead the customer technical discussions and will be a single point of contact for the engineering.
• Assess impact of performance and life of downstream equipment, because of GT upgrade. Perform feasibility checks and provide feasibility reports to customers.
• Interface with engineering functions to assess the possibility of retrofitting non-GEV parts.
• Address all technical issues that will impact the ability of the GEV supplied equipment to comply the customer/project requirements. Process Cost & Shipment Estimates to define scope, price and schedule impacts of all special, non-standard scope and options that are necessary to support the proposal. Provide in-depth, detailed comments and exceptions to the customer specifications to be included in the GEV proposal document to the customer. Participate in customer technical clarification meetings as needed.
• Provide technical direction for proposals based on agreements with Commercial Operations and interpretation of the upgrade requirements. Achieve agreement with Commercial Operations, Projects, etc. concerning scope of supply and internal responsibility for same
• Ensure accurate plant/product definition, configuration, and equipment requirements that meet both customer and contractual requirements
• Lead page-turn of Technical Proposal Review and collaborate with deal team / commercial / PMO to handle the deviations
• Initiate all required product and project technical requests to Engineering that require Engineering sign-off, using the tools appropriate for the information being requested
• Champion LEAN principles and embrace LEAN, continuously challenge and take an active role in the continuous improvement of processes, procedures and deliverable in ITO engineering organization

Qualifications/Requirements

• B.Tech/M.Tech Mechanical Engineering from Institute of repute
• Minimum 15 years’ of experience in gas turbine-based power plant including system design, performance & cost evaluation
• Strong understanding of gas turbines upgrades offerings and its impact to steam turbine, generator and plant BOP and its upgrades.
• Exposure to developing the solution and working on the complex / extended scope upgrade projects
• Global mindset with a willingness to understand different cultures and work collaboratively
• Direct customer interface experience
• Effective time management skills & multitasking ability.
• Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills

Desired Characteristics

• Field experience on GEV heavy duty Gas Turbines B/E or F / HA frames
• Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems. Knowledge of Performance Engg / testing will be valued.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Gas turbine / Steam turbine / Generator design, manufacturing, or assembly/ test experience.
