Job summary

TIMESCONSULT in Malaysia seeks a proactive chemist to lead product development from concept to commercialization. You will identify new formulations, assess technical feasibility, and collaborate with sales and regulatory teams to translate market needs into viable products.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field, strong communication and project-management skills, and willingness to travel for customer visits and trials.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new products, formulations and applications based on market needs.

• Lead and coordinate technical development projects from pipeline through commercialization.
• Establish development timelines, testing requirements and project milestones.
• Track project progress and provide updates to management.
• Work closely with key customers to understand technical requirements and application needs.
• Participate in customer visits and technical discussions.
• Support sales activities by providing technical input and product solutions.
• Review technical documents such as TDS, SDS, COA, Test reports and ensure quality/compliance.

Quality and Compliance

• Ensure new and existing products meet required technical specifications quality standards.
• Review technical documents such as TDS, SDS, COA, Test report.
• Support regulatory and other relevant compliance requirements where applicable.

Supplier & Principal Technical Coordination

• Liaise with raw material suppliers, manufacturers on technical matters.
• Obtain and review technical documentation and product information.
• Maintain proper records of test results, customer trials and development projects.
• Prepare presentations to management for development summaries.
• Supervise and guide technical/chemist where applicable.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Science, Chemical Engineering or any other related fields.
• Relevant experience in chemical/specialty chemical industry.
• Good knowledge of chemical properties and product applications.
• Able to translate technical requirements into commercially viable products.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Good understanding of product costing and commercialization feasibility.
• Good project planning, coordination and follow-up skills.
• Willing to travel for customer visit, outstation and market development as required.
