Job summary

Texchem Corporation Sdn Bhd in Penang seeks a maintenance engineer to oversee electrical and facilities upkeep at the plant. You will manage HT 11kV installations, coordinate upgrades, and ensure safety, 5S, and regulatory compliance.

You will lead maintenance teams, supervise external contractors, plan preventive servicing, and respond to emergencies to minimize downtime while supporting plant improvements and operations.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid Chargeman Certificate of Competency.
• At least 1 year of related field experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain HT 11kV electrical installations and LV switch rooms.
• Oversee electrical and facilities maintenance and upgrades.
• Plan and conduct preventive maintenance for plant machinery.
• Liaise with external contractors to ensure standards and timelines.
• Coordinate safety, health, and 5S activities with the manager.
• Provide engineering and maintenance support for plant improvements.
• Respond to power trips and restore services.

Job description

Responsible for the electrical supply and maintenance, as well as upgrades.

Responsible for facilities upgrading and maintenance, such as air conditioning, air compressors, cooling towers, and others.

Responsible for building maintenance.

Responsible for project setup for both electrical and facilities.

Operate, maintain, and carry out preventive measures for High Tension (HT) electrical installations of 11kV.

Maintain and ensure LV, HT, and all switch rooms are in good working condition, complying with local acts.

Assist the manager in other operational duties such as safety and health, security, and factory 5S matters.

Provide engineering and maintenance support for in-plant improvement.

Liaise and supervise external contractors to ensure that all repair & maintenance works carry out by them fulfil the require standard/regulations and within the given time frame.

Liaise with relevant authorities (such as fire department, machinery department, DOSH etc.) on various utility services and compliance issues

To provide emergency response in case of TNB power trip or failure, factory compressors failure, water pipe or sprinkler point burst, etc.

To attend power trips, restoration, and also corrective action with minimum supervision.

Facilities team to provide effective and reliable maintenance support (corrective and preventive) to all factory machinery, equipment, and facilities.

Responsible for the study of M & E requirements of the plant, organizing and implementing a comprehensive job to ensure that all machinery, facilities, and electrical systems are well maintained at all times.

Responsible for controlling spare parts and ordering.

To plan and perform periodic servicing for all machinery.

To lead maintenance team to carry out daily tasks and machine troubleshooting.

To control minimal machine downtime at all times.

Any other job assignment as required by the immediate superior from time to time.
