Job summary

Maybank is seeking a seasoned Trade Finance Operations Lead in Kuala Lumpur to supervise daily processing, allocate workload, and ensure all transactions are completed accurately within SLA and cut-off times. You will ensure compliance with ICC standards and regulatory guidelines, oversee the TBLS, and manage operational risk including AML/KYC diligence.

Qualifications

• Experience in trade finance operations including supervisory experience in LC/BG, bills, trade loans or document checking.
• Sound working knowledge of ICC publications and trade-related regulatory guidelines.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to perform under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the team's daily processing, distributing workload to meet SLA, cut-off and same-day delivery targets.
• Ensure transactions comply with ICC rules and regulatory guidelines such as ECM, BA, BPA and ECR.
• Oversee the Trade Bill Limit System (TBLS) and confirm full compliance before drawdown of new transactions where applicable.
• Manage operational risk including AML and KYC diligence to avoid losses and ensure audit readiness.
• Monitor SLA, error rate and productivity; analyze root causes of errors and implement fixes.
• Identify staff competency gaps, propose training, and develop a team aligned with RTO's goals.
• Drive cost control and process improvements through optimal resource use.

• Ensure transactions comply with ICC rules and practices (UCP600, URC522, URR725, URDG758, ISBP, ISP98, Incoterms) and regulatory guidelines such as ECM, BA, BPA and ECR
• Oversee the Trade Bill Limit System (TBLS) and confirm full compliance before drawdown of new transactions, where applicable
• Manage operational risk, including AML and KYC diligence, so the section avoids operational and reputational losses and achieves satisfactory audit outcomes
• Monitor SLA, error rate and productivity, analyse the root causes of errors and put timely fixes in place.
• Identify staff competency gaps, propose training, and build an engaged team aligned with RTO's goals.
• Drive cost control and process improvements through optimum use of resources

Requirements

• Experience in trade finance operations, including supervisory experience in LC/BG, bills, trade loans or document checking
• Sound working knowledge of ICC publications and trade-related regulatory guidelines
• Strong leadership, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to perform under tight deadlines.
• Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) or an equivalent trade finance certification is preferred, together with AML/CFT training
