Job summary

Zebra Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd in Penang is seeking a Tax Analyst I to support end-to-end indirect tax compliance, reporting and operations. You will help prepare indirect tax returns, file submissions, and reconcile tax accounts while collaborating with cross-functional teams on tax planning and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Support indirect tax compliance activities, including GST, VAT, JCT, SST and other applicable transaction taxes.
• Prepare and file indirect tax returns for multiple jurisdictions, ensuring timely, compliant and accurate submissions.
• Review and perform reconciliation of indirect tax payments, tax refunds and tax credit carry-forward balances.
• Prepare and maintain records of indirect tax ledger accounts; reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate reconciling items.
• Prepare and post monthly/quarterly journal entries necessary for the financial period close.
• Monitor, track and follow-up on outstanding tax refunds with tax authorities.
• Support indirect tax audits and assist in preparing responses to inquiries from tax authorities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support day-to-day business operations from a tax perspective.
• Assist with indirect tax planning initiatives and tax risk management.
• Research, monitor and document changes and/or development in indirect tax laws and regulations and its corresponding implications.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance tax compliance efficiency.
• Participate in tax projects (e.g. electronic invoicing) and liaise with external tax consultants and tax authorities.
• Assist in User Acceptance Testing for indirect tax tools by running test scenarios, validating output/input tax calculations and tracking defects.
• Support the Tax Manager on ad-hoc duties and special projects from time to time as required.

What We're Looking For:

The Tax Analyst I is responsible for supporting the end-to-end execution of indirect tax compliance, reporting and operational activities. This includes assist with indirect tax returns preparation, filing and reconciliation as well as provide support for indirect tax projects and audits.
