Job summary

Zebra Technologies in Penang seeks a Tax Analyst I to support end-to-end indirect tax compliance, reporting, and operations. You will prepare and file indirect tax returns across multiple jurisdictions and assist with audits and inquiries from tax authorities.

As part of a collaborative finance team, you will monitor tax changes, maintain ledger records, post period-close entries, and help with process improvements and tax planning initiatives in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Support indirect tax compliance activities including GST, VAT, JCT, SST and other applicable transaction taxes.
• Prepare and file indirect tax returns for multiple jurisdictions, ensuring timely and compliant submissions.
• Review and reconcile indirect tax payments, tax refunds and carry-forward balances.
• Prepare and post monthly/quarterly journal entries for financial period close.
• Monitor outstanding tax refunds with tax authorities and follow up as needed.
• Assist in indirect tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support day-to-day operations from a tax perspective.
• Assist with indirect tax planning initiatives and tax risk management.
• Research changes in indirect tax laws and document implications.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance tax compliance efficiency.
• Participate in tax projects and liaise with external consultants and authorities.
• Assist in User Acceptance Testing for indirect tax tools and track defects.
