Job description

As part of our fractional HR advisory work in OPT, we're currently supporting one of our major clients on a few strategic people initiatives, one of them being hiring a Talent Specialist to join the team and collaborate with us in delivering critical Talent Priorities for this client.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can independently manage hiring priorities, partner confidently with stakeholders, and contribute beyond recruitment into employer branding, talent management, employee experience, and culture-building initiatives.

As the organisation continues to grow its team, retail footprint, and business operations, this role will play a key part in attracting great talent, strengthening employer branding, supporting talent management, and building a culture where people can thrive.

Why This Role Matters

People are one of the most important drivers of a growing organisation.

This role is more than recruitment. You will help shape how candidates experience the organisation before they join, how employees feel once they are part of the team, and how talent continues to grow as the business scales.

You will be one of the ambassadors of the organisation, representing its people, values, and culture both internally and externally, while helping build the people and talent foundations needed for sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities
Talent Attraction, Employer Branding & Talent Acquisition
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment across different business functions and levels.
  • Partner closely with hiring managers to understand hiring needs, role requirements, and workforce plans.
  • Develop sourcing strategies and build talent pipelines through LinkedIn, job portals, referrals, networking, and professional communities.
  • Screen, assess, and shortlist candidates based on role requirements, capability, potential, and organisational fit.
  • Coordinate and facilitate interviews with hiring managers and key stakeholders.
  • Deliver a positive and engaging candidate experience from first interaction through onboarding.
  • Create and support employer branding initiatives, including hiring content, employee stories, recruitment campaigns, and talent attraction activities.
  • Track recruitment metrics, market feedback, and hiring insights to improve sourcing effectiveness, hiring quality, and candidate experience.
Employee Experience, Culture & Talent Management
  • Support onboarding programmes to create a positive and meaningful new hire experience.
  • Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, internal events, feedback channels, and culture-building activities.
  • Support talent management initiatives, including performance conversations, talent reviews, career development discussions, and employee growth plans.
  • Assist in identifying talent development needs and coordinating learning or development initiatives.
  • Support people-related programmes such as employee check-ins, engagement surveys, recognition initiatives, and retention efforts.
  • Work with leaders and employees to strengthen employee experience, reinforce company values, and support a scalable people-centred workplace.
  • Use AI tools and digital solutions to improve recruitment efficiency, content creation, reporting, candidate engagement, and people-related workflows.
Key Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
  • 4-6 years of experience across Talent Acquisition, Recruitment, HR, Employer Branding, Talent Management, Employee Experience, or related people functions.
  • Experience working in a retail, consumer-facing, operations-driven, multi-site, startup, scale-up, or fast-growing environment or related industry is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end recruitment independently across multiple functions, levels, and hiring priorities.
  • Strong experience partnering with hiring managers and leaders to clarify role requirements, manage expectations, and drive hiring progress.
  • Exposure to talent management, employee engagement, onboarding, performance, learning, or people development initiatives is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with using AI tools to support recruitment, sourcing, content creation, reporting, candidate engagement, or day-to-day productivity is an advantage.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Communications, or a related field.
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong recruiter mindset with the ability to identify, attract, engage, and assess talent effectively.
  • Confident stakeholder manager with strong communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
  • Naturally outgoing, engaging, and comfortable interacting with diverse groups of people.
  • Strong written communication and content creation skills, especially for candidate engagement, employer branding, and internal people communications.
  • Comfortable using recruitment data, hiring insights, and AI tools to improve speed, quality, creativity, and efficiency in people-related work.
  • Organised, resourceful, and able to manage multiple roles, stakeholders, and people initiatives at the same time.
  • Able to operate independently in a fast-moving environment with minimal handholding.
  • Positive, proactive, adaptable, and passionate about helping businesses scale through people.
Expected Outcomes From This Role
  • Build a strong and sustainable talent pipeline to support business growth.
  • Deliver a positive candidate, onboarding, and employee experience.
  • Strengthen the organisation's employer brand and talent attraction efforts.
  • Support talent management initiatives that help employees grow, develop, and perform at their best.
  • Build strong relationships with employees, hiring managers, and stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Contribute to employee engagement, talent development, and culture-building initiatives that strengthen the workplace experience.
  • Use data, insights, and AI-enabled ways of working to improve hiring efficiency, people processes, and overall employee experience.
