Job summary

Promatrix DC Solution in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to lead testing, commissioning strategies, and handover for data center projects. You will coordinate site activities, run commissioning procedures, and ensure safety, QA/QC, and on-time delivery across vendor teams.

The role requires planning and executing testing plans, reviewing designs, troubleshooting equipment, and communicating progress to the Project Manager.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction commissioning roles on site.
• Familiar with datacenter design and construction standards.
• Experience of T&C standards for hyper-scale data centers or data centers for financial industry.
• Detail-oriented with strong judgment, organized and flexible.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Commissioning process from site selection for vendor onboarding and workshops.
• Develop commissioning strategy and plan; attend factory and site acceptance testing.
• Coordinate all testing plans, procedures, and documentation for the project.
• Review project design for operation feasibility and ensure quality delivery during handover.
• Verify equipment/system performance against specifications and requirements.
• Lead and document 5 levels of commissioning; report progress to Project Manager/Director.

• Managing the Commissioning process from site selection process for vendor onboarding, organizing commissioning workshops, technical due diligence design review, developing commissioning strategy and plan, attending factory & site acceptance testing, technical issues resolution, commissioning close out and turn over process.

· To plan, coordinate and manage all testing and the documentation for the project

• The development of Commissioning Procedures and standards and making regular construction site inspections to review safety, construction, QA/QC, and commissioning process.

· Shall ensure quality delivery from the project installation and coordinate handover to client and internal service department

· To review the project design and ensure operation feasibility

· To verify and evaluate the quality and performance of the equipment/ system according to the specification and requirement before delivery to the client

· To coordinate all Testing plan and procedure

· To develop and review test plan and test script

· Involve in project early stage to understand the construction and Testing & Commissioning requirement

· Plan, Perform and lead the whole T&C process with T&C members, ensure the T&C is being carried out smoothly and complete on time

· Ensuring work compliances to standards, in accordance with engineering practices

· Understanding Built Plans (M&E), Technical Literature and Equipment Manuals

· Equipment trouble-shooting, root cause analysis, review and propose solutions

• Shall have effective communication skills and reports regularly on construction Progress, QA/QC, Commissioning progress, Issues, and KPI metrics to Project Manager/Project Director

· Reports to Project manager and Project Director for any work issues and non-compliances

· Conduct, support and attend the 5 levels of commissioning.

· Support Project Team on any technical issues related to Testing Procedures

• Manage Cx meetings and Cx activities of vendor project managers including integration of lessons learned.
• Accountable for developing, managing, and reporting on safety, scope, schedule, and budget of the Commissioning Process.
• T&C handover checklist to review and get approval from Client.

· Work closely with Engineering Team and understand the Design

• Depending on project need, this position may be located On-Site or Off-Site and requires frequent travel to the project site.
• Any other duties assigned by Director or higher

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in various construction commissioning roles on site; candidate with less experience will be considered as Engineer role
• Familiar with datacenter design and construction standard are preferred.
• Experience of T&C standard for hyper-scale data center, large cloud service provider or data center for financial industry are preferred.
• Detail-oriented, sound judgement, organized and flexible
• Displays a high level of responsiveness and follows through on commitments
• Good interpersonal skills and able to interact with all levels, internally and externally, in a professional and responsive manner
• Effectively communicate and work as part of a team, maintaining a professional attitude and collaborating with team members and managers on assigned tasks.
