Job summary

Stratus Automation Sdn Bhd is seeking a dedicated Test Engineer to execute and document comprehensive system-level tests for AMHS and ASRS solutions. You will work across hardware, software, and integration tests, preparing test setups, collecting data, and ensuring traceability to defined requirements.

The role emphasizes hands-on testing, collaboration with System, Hardware, and Software Test Engineers, and adherence to SOPs, ESD, and safety protocols in a lab environment in Penang.

Qualifications

Diploma in Electrical & Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
3–5 years in system testing, equipment testing, automation, or troubleshooting.
R&D/NPI or manufacturing experience is an advantage; practical skills welcome.

Responsibilities

Execute system-level test cases and procedures per approved plans and criteria.
Perform functional, integration, performance, alarm validation and regression testing.
Set up test systems, fixtures, cables, sensors, actuators, and instrumentation.
Record test results, logs, and evidence for traceability to test cases.
Collaborate with engineers during test execution and issue investigations.
Maintain test equipment and laboratory areas in good condition.

What You Will Do:

Execute system-level test cases and procedures in accordance with approved test plans, work instructions, and acceptance criteria.
Perform functional, integration, performance, alarm validation, and regression testing as assigned.
Support New Product Introduction (NPI) builds, design verification, and development testing by preparing systems and executing assigned tests.
Set up test systems, fixtures, cables, sensors, actuators, and instrumentation required for test execution.
Verify test equipment readiness and perform routine functional checks before testing. Report equipment issues and calibration requirements as necessary.
Identify, document, and report test failures, abnormal system behavior, and deviations from expected results.
Perform initial troubleshooting and collect relevant data, logs, measurements, and evidence to support engineers in root cause analysis and failure reproduction.
Accurately record test results and maintain test logs, checklists, defect records, and supporting evidence to ensure traceability to test cases and requirements.
Maintain test equipment, fixtures, tools, and laboratory work areas in good working condition.
Comply with approved standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, ESD requirements, quality procedures, and laboratory safety requirements.
Collaborate with System Test Engineers, Hardware Test Engineers, Software Test Engineers, and Design Engineers during test execution and issue investigation.
Support improvements to test setups, procedures, test repeatability, and execution efficiency.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

What You Will Bring (Required Qualifications):

Diploma in Electrical & Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or a related technical field.
3-5 years of experience in system testing, equipment testing, automation, or troubleshooting.
R&D, NPI, or manufacturing experience is an advantage. Candidates with strong practical skills may also be considered.
Good teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Responsible, proactive, flexible, and detail-oriented.
Basic troubleshooting skills in hardware, software, and system integration.
Ability to identify abnormalities, analyze test results, and review system logs.
Ability to maintain test records and report failures.
Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and test instructions.
Familiarity with sensors, motors, controllers, I/O, and automation equipment.
Knowledge of communication protocols such as Ethernet, RS-485, Modbus, CAN, or EtherCAT is an advantage.
Ability to use test instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
Understanding of ESD controls, laboratory safety, and equipment handling.
