Job summary

BINTULU PORT HOLDINGS BERHAD is seeking a System Analyst in Bintulu, Sarawak to manage and optimise network and IT systems. You will ensure stability, security and performance, collaborating with multiple departments to translate needs into effective technical solutions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS or equivalent experience, 3–5 years in relevant roles, and hands-on knowledge of Windows Server, Linux/Unix and monitoring tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in systems administration, network administration, or IT systems analysis.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols, infrastructure and security principles.
• Experience with Windows Server, Linux/Unix environments and monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with IT service management frameworks such as ITIL.

Responsibilities

• Analyse current network and systems infrastructure to identify areas for improvement and optimisation.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimise downtime and maintain service quality.
• Design and implement network solutions meeting operational and security requirements.
• Conduct regular system audits to ensure security standards and best practices.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and IT teams on systems administration.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Maintain documentation of network configurations and IT processes.
• Evaluate and adopt new technologies to enhance performance and efficiency.
• Assist in planning and execution of system upgrades and migrations.
• Support disaster recovery planning and business continuity initiatives.

About the role

We are seeking a System Analyst to join our team in Bintulu, Sarawak on a full-time basis. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing, analysing and optimising our network and systems infrastructure to support the port's operational requirements. The System Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security and performance of our IT systems, working closely with various departments to understand their technological needs and delivering solutions that enhance productivity and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse current network and systems infrastructure to identify areas for improvement and optimisation
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues to minimise downtime and maintain service quality
• Design and implement network solutions that meet the organisation's operational and security requirements
• Conduct regular system audits and assessments to ensure compliance with security standards and best practices

• Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
• Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, system architecture and IT processes
• Recommend and evaluate new technologies and tools that could enhance system performance and efficiency
• Assist in the planning and execution of system upgrades and migrations
• Support disaster recovery planning and business continuity initiatives

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in systems administration, network administration, or IT systems analysis

Strong knowledge of network protocols, infrastructure and security principles

Proficiency with operating systems such as Windows Server, Linux or Unix environments

Experience with network management tools and monitoring software

Understanding of database administration and data management concepts

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail

Strong communication abilities and capability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Knowledge of IT service management frameworks such as ITIL would be advantageous

Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA or Microsoft Certified Associate would be beneficial
