PPG Coatings in Malaysia seeks a Supply Planning Specialist to ensure uninterrupted material supply while optimizing inventory. You will develop and execute supply plans, align demand with production, and manage import processes to support operations.
You will monitor inventory health, reduce excess stock, and collaborate with Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Quality teams to minimize risks and disruptions.
As a Supply Planning Specialist you will responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material supply to support production and customer demand while maintaining optimal inventory levels. You will drive material planning activities, supply-demand alignment, inventory optimization, and proactive risk management across the supply chain network.
Main Responsibilities
Supply & Distribution Planning Execution
Develop and execute short-term and long-term material supply plans based on demand forecasts, production schedules, and business requirements.
Monitor material availability and ensure timely replenishment to support manufacturing operations.
Create, manage, and monitor Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) based on material requirements and planning signals.
Release Purchase Orders to suppliers and ensure timely transmission of orders.
Follow up with suppliers on order acknowledgements, delivery commitments, and shipment schedules.
Track open orders and expedite deliveries when required to prevent production disruptions.
Identify and escalate material shortages, supply constraints, and potential disruptions.
Coordinate recovery plans to minimize supply risks and production impacts.
Maintain planning master data and ensure planning parameters are accurate and updated.
Inventory Management & Optimization
Monitor inventory levels to ensure compliance with inventory targets and service level requirements.
Improve safety stock, reorder points, and inventory policies to balance supply continuity and working capital.
Analyze inventory trends and recommend actions to improve inventory health.
Drive excess inventory reduction initiatives while maintaining supply reliability.
Support inventory accuracy through regular reviews and reconciliation activities.
SSPL (Slow & Surplus) Risk Management
Identify, monitor, and report slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory risks.
Develop mitigation plans with Procurement, Operations, and Business stakeholders.
Execute inventory disposition strategies to minimize write-offs and financial exposure.
Conduct root cause analysis on SSPL generation and implement preventive actions.
Track and report SSPL performance against established targets.
Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
Track and drive improvements in key KPIs:

Manage end-to-end import process
Coordinate and monitor inbound international shipments to ensure timely material arrival and uninterrupted supply.
Review and verify shipping documentation for accuracy and completeness, including (Invoice, Packing List (PL), Bill of Lading (BL), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS/SDS), Form E and Other relevant import and customs documents
Apply and coordinate Form C documentation in accordance with customs, import, and regulatory requirements to support timely customs clearance and duty exemption processes.
Ensure all import documentation is submitted accurately and on time to facilitate customs clearance and avoid shipment delays.
Support cost-effective procurement and logistics activities while ensuring material availability and supply continuity.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, Quality, Customer Service, and Commercial teams to ensure supply continuity.
Act as the primary point of contact for material-related planning issues.
Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve supply concerns promptly.
Support new product introductions, phase-ins, phase-outs, and engineering changes.
Facilitate effective communication and alignment across the supply chain organization.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or related discipline.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Supply Planning, Material Planning, Inventory Management, or Supply Chain Operations within a manufacturing environment.
Experience using ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Kinaxis, APO, or similar planning tools.
Knowledge of supply planning, MRP, inventory management, and replenishment processes.
Proficient in Microsoft excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) and supply chain reporting tools.
Knowledge of IBP/S&OP processes and inventory optimization methodologies is preferred.
Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational abilities.
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
