Job summary

Pentamaster Equipment Manufacturing Inc. (Official) is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer in Penang to assure high-quality, low-volume components from suppliers.

You will lead audits, assess feasibility and risk, and drive engineering changes to ensure timely, reliable delivery in a fast-paced HCLV environment. The role requires strong QA systems knowledge (ISO 9001, IATF 16949), GD&T interpretation, and robust problem-solving with 8D/5 Whys.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing supplier quality systems in manufacturing.
• Ability to read drawings and interpret GD&T and specifications.
• Strong root-cause analysis skills using 8D, 5 Whys and Fishbone.
• Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA and control plans for supplier processes.
• Proven ability to drive corrective actions and monitor supplier performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Supplier audits and assessments to ensure quality and capability.
• Assess feasibility, risk, and DFM/DFA during sourcing.
• Manage supplier projects and engineering change control.
• Evaluate emergency readiness for high-priority parts and downtime scenarios.
• Lead QA and continuous improvement with FAI, SCAR/8D actions, and metrics tracking.

Job description

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) ensures suppliers consistently deliver high-quality, high-precision components in a High-Complexity, Low-Volume (HCLV)environment. The role focuses on supplier quality, technical risk management, feasibility assessment, project execution, and emergency response readiness to ensure reliable and timely part delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supplier Audits & Assessments – Evaluate existing and new suppliers for quality, compliance, technical capability, and HCLV suitability.
• Technical Feasibility & Risk Management – Assess manufacturing capabilities, DFM/DFA maturity, process limitations, and technical risks during sourcing.
• Supplier Project & Change Management – Monitor supplier project milestones and ensure effective engineering change control and timely implementation.
• Emergency Response & Resilience – Assess supplier readiness to support urgent, high-priority part manufacturing and replenishment during critical equipment downtime.
• Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement – Manage FAI activities, drive root-cause analysis and SCAR/8D corrective actions, and monitor key supplier performance metrics such as defect rates, OTD, and corrective-action closure.

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

• Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and VDA 6.3
• Ability to read technical drawings and interpret GD&T
• Proficient in Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving tools: 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, CAPA, and Mistake Proofing
• Knowledge of Supplier Quality tools: PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA, Control Plan, FAI, Process Audits, and Supplier Scorecards
• Strong communication, presentation, reporting, documentation, and project management skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
